Join the University of Montevallo in a spring break, 2006 trip to Costa Rica. Known as the Garden of the America’s, Costa Rica has one of the most diverse eco-systems in the world. With twelve tropical life zones, altitudes from sea level to 10,000 feet, volcanoes and two oceans, you will find a landscape unsurpassed in beauty. In nine days/eight nights, we will experience the historical, cultural and ecological diversity of the country. Known to be the safest country in Latin America, Costa Rica has the highest literacy and health ratings in the area. 

Costa Ricans are friendly and outgoing and appreciate your efforts to speak Spanish.

Itinerary

Dates: April 24th to May 1st, 2006
April 24th, 2006

We will leave Birmingham on April 24, 2006 and fly into the capital city, San Jose in the Valley Central. Home to over a third of the population, San Jose is surrounded by mountains and sits in a wide, fertile valley. We will transfer to Tres Rios Lodge, located on a mountainside overlooking the city, where we will overnight and have our orientation meeting with the bi-lingual guide

April 25- 29th, 2006

Next day we will begin our transfer to Manual Antonio Beach via rafting or kayaking through a rainforest and continue our transfer by vans. We will spend the next four nights in Manual Antonio where we will hike in the Manual Antonio National Park, have surf and snorkeling lessons, sea kayak and enjoy the beach and surrounding area (Quepos). We will spend a day at Turubari Eco-Park where participants can take a rainforest aerial tram, tour the tropical park, horseback ride and take a sensational cable tour through the canopy

April 30th, 2006

Back in San Jose, we will visit Izazu Volcano, the Basilica and the cultural museum and have time for some shopping at the Central Market. We will return to Birmingham on May 1.

May 1st, 2006

Time to pack your bags and transfer to the international airport.
