 Tri-Country Semester: 85 days

Cross Country Trekking Element (25-35 days):
• Trek 5-10 miles per day through tropical cloud and rainforests with amazing views from the Caribbean to the Pacific!
• Learn about rainforest biology, natural history, conservation, backcountry skills, etc
• Group formations: setting up camp, meals, and nightly meetings
• Continual presence of Costa Rican instructor and bi-lingual lead instructor
• Interactive teaching style (language supplements, verbal and cultural immersion)
• Homestay in Piedras Blancas – a remote Mestizo village nestled deep in primary rainforest
• Possible Activities: solo (24-48 hours), cultural exchange, practice Spanish, community service, planting or harvesting traditional foods (bananas, rice, beans, sugar cane, cocoa, avocados, oranges, corn), preparation of traditional foods (milking cows and goats, grinding corn, hand-making tortillas on an open fire), playing soccer with kids, tree canopy climb, jungle waterfall rappel, medicinal plant hike with local shaman, and more!

Surf Element (9-12 days):
• Holistic instructional approach (lunar phases, wave formations, coastal ecology, mangroves)
• Group normally visits 3 different beaches with varied breaks and wave types
• Group formations: setting up camps, meals, and nightly meetings
• Warm water breaks of the beautiful Pacific
• Surf locations along Central Pacific (locations dependent on weather conditions): Playa Avellanas, Playa Negra, Playa Hermosa, Quepos, and Manuel Antonio beaches
• Rest and relaxation, sunbathing, or fun in the sun surfing and boogie boarding, at a tropical beach paradise

Nicaragua Element (7-10 days):
• Expedition down the Rio San Juan River, paddling in inflatable kayaks
• Community Service Project
• Learn about the History of Nicaragua
• Experience one of the most bio-diverse areas in the world

Costa Rica River Element (15-24 days):
• 9-12 days whitewater raft captaining course on some of the following rainforest shrouded rivers: Sarapiqui, Reventazon, Pacuare, Pejibaye, Savegre, and General (depending on water levels)
• 6-12 day kayak course on some of the following rivers: Savegre, Naranjo, Parrita, and Sarapiqui (depending on water levels)


Panama Element (8-10 days):
• Get NAUI Certified for SCUBA Diving
• Snorkel in the warm, crystal waters of the Caribbean
• Learn about reef ecology
• Possible Activities: sea kayaking, biking, wakeboarding, sailing, community service and solo

AVAILABLE COURSE CREDIT
• Coastal Ecology, 3 credits
• Intro to Spanish, 3 credits
• Tropical Natural History of Costa Rica, 3 credits
• Group Leadership, 3 credits
