Perspectives from students on 30 day Surf Course Outward Bound
Rafting
was so much fun. Great way to put an end to the trip: the exclamation point
at the end. When you’re surfing, you’ll have good waves and bad
waves, but rafting is always fun. With surfing, I improved my turns –
I have more power and am way smoother. I also improved my stance. The instructors
really helped with my fundamentals. I was able to surf more powerfully I could
try tricks in difficult parts of the wave and be able to recover. The surf instruction
was excellent. I think everyone got what they needed. The instructors were really
honest with what we needed to work on.

I loved meeting a lot of new people. I couldn’t have picked a better
group. The rafting was so much fun. It’s such a thrill going down whitewater
and being with nature. The best part was riding amazing waves. I’ve never
rode waves like these. I surfed double overhead waves every day. The instructors
would sit on the inside and would always have tips on how I could be better,
and they provided a lot of encouragement. I definitely stepped up my surfing
abilities. I’m a lot better at riding a line and making drops, and I learned
a few new tricks. I feel a lot of all around improvement on my surfing. I really
enjoyed the solo also. I think I have a new outlook on life, and I think there
are things I’m going to change when I go back home.

It
was fun. I got to do 30 days of surfing. I love surfing. It’s what I do.
I can do airs and reverses now. I’ve improved my backslides and 360s.
I almost did an air reverse. I got spit out of a barrel.

The best part was waking up every morning to way better surf than I have back
home. I had some of the best surfing of my life. The setups were sick. Words
can’t describe it.
