Perspectives from students on the 24 day Multi-Element Course Outward Bound

volcano outward bound costa ricaIt was great. I liked everything. I liked the hiking. I loved the rainforest. I had an adventure. The homestays were awesome. The families were great. Hanging out with the kids was a lot of fun. The plantation tour was really cool. I got to see sugar cane, pineapples, etc. The generator was really cool. They ran their whole house off of one little creek. The volcano was pretty cool and the canopy was really neat. I want to come back and do the leadership training.

Throughout my CRROBS course, I learned all about Costa Rica’s unique culture, and I took part in all types of exciting outdoors activities and had an awesome time. It was very fun. It takes you into a one-of-a-kind environment, and an opportunity to learn about and get to know the local people. It was awesome. I like the feeling of being down here. The people I was around—the local feeling—the homestays and instructors. We were welcomed into the family’s house. We got to see what their life was like—seeing it every day. I love it here. It put things in perspective. The homestays were my favorite part of the trip but the canopy was fun and very cool. You fly by so fast! I love Costa Rica. It’s my second time coming here, and I want to come back again. CRROBS is a great organization which I would gladly return to because its staff are very nice and easy to talk to. It shows you many parts of Costa Rica while also teaching you about conservation, the rainforest, and Tico culture, and has an easy-going friendly atmosphere.

This has been a challenging and beneficial experience – very good exercise. I loved surfing at Manuel Antonio. The canopy was great. It was cool to go down the zip-lines
The instructors were excellent—better than expected. I feel physically challenged. I appreciate things at home more.

canopy tour costa ricaIt was a great experience of varying environments and challenges. I got to do stuff I’ve never done before. I liked being with the families in the homestays. The canopy experience was by far the best aspect. It was the most fun. I loved soaring down the ropes on the zip-lines over huge trees and rivers. It was really cool to do it and confront my fear of heights.

homestay costa rica, lopez houseThe homestays were awesome. Seeing how people live really different from me. I’ve never seen anything like that before. It opened my eyes and made me think of what I can do different back home. It was a great course that everyone needs to do. It was really challenging for me.
