The Rainforest Winter Escape takes you out of the hustle and bustle of the daily grind and into the tranquil beauty of Costa Rica's famous rainforests. You guides will teach you about the flora and fauna of the region. In addition, you will go "back in time" to a remote village where you will learn how to milk a cow, prepare traditional foods, and learn firsthand about rainforest agriculture. For some added adrenaline, you will also rappel down a waterfall, whitewater raft through the rainforest, and learn how to surf at a postcard-perfect beach as you ring in the new year.
What I liked best about the course was getting to interact with the families at the homestays and meeting the others in my group. I would recommend this to anyone looking to challenge themselves and seek some enlightenment. I sought adventure and challenge and ended up rediscovering my strengths.
