Day Tropical Expeditions Itinerary |
| Setup (1
day):
• Arrive at the San Jose International Airport the day before course
begins and our staff will be there to greet you and transfer you to our
base.
• Introduction to the course and briefing on tomorrow’s activity.
|
Volcano Day: (1 day):
• The Turrialba Volcano is just a short drive away and gives the hiker a
short but challenging hike up to its spectacular crater. From the rim, you
can often see all the way to the Caribbean Sea. You can also gaze into the
crater with steam holes and fumaroles spewing their steamy mineral laden
vapors. For those who want an extra challenge, you can hike into the moon-like
crater and check out the area close-up. Even though it has been hundreds
of years since the last eruption, the landscape still has very little vegetation.
This is a great way to learn about volcanism up close and intimate. |
| River Expeditions:
(2 days):
• The Pejibaye River is great for those new to water activities. Maneuver
your inflatable kayak through the warm water rapids, which provide constant
adrenaline-filled fun. Keep your eyes open for rainforest wildlife for
which this river section is known for.
• On day two, the world-famous Pacuare River awaits. Our day on this river
promises to be filled with great Class III and IV rapids as well as fantastic
vistas and wildlife. Waterfalls drop from the tropical forested canyon
walls plunging directly into the main river channel at numerous spots.
|
Zip Lining Canopy Tour and Rainforest Walk:
(1 days):
• Rainforests are one of the most important providers of oxygen for our
planet. Our naturalist guides will help you understand and enjoy the mysteries
behind these beautiful forest areas. Our hiking trails are known for their
abundant wildlife, and our guides are great at pointing out things that
you otherwise might miss. Also enjoy a half day tour of zip lining from
tree to tree in the rainforest canopy. Costa Rica is famous for this activity,
and you will not only be exhilarated but also a little scared, but not
to worry safety is our number one concern.
|
Service and Solo: (1days):
• SOS Orphanages is an international organization with orphanages and homes
for abandoned children around the world. Give back to the community and
practice your Spanish at the same time working with several children with
disabilities. Whatever the project, you will feel better knowing you have
touched the life of somebody less fortunate than yourself. |
Surf and Beach Expeditions : (2 days):
• The CRROBS Coastal Base facility is ideally located at a great area for
all kinds of beach activities. Our excellent surf instructional staff will
show you the basics of catching waves and then it is up to you to try your
hand at this fun and challenging sport. We pick breaks that work well for
beginners but that also offer more advanced breaks close by. On your second
day you will head to Manuel Antonio National Park full of iguanas, sloths,
ctenosaurs, and 3 different species of monkeys. |
San Jose City Tour Day: (1 days):
• This is your final day to buy souvenirs, check out the local culture through
visiting museums and markets. You’ll end your day with a special farewell
dinner and pack up all of your things, share a last night with your new
friends, and then fly out the next morning. |
Fly Out
• Transfer to San Jose international airport for your departing flights.
