Program Director
Laura Statesir
Education:B.S. in Recreation, Park and Tourism Sciences from Texas A&M University
Hometown: Kingwood, Texas
Email: programdirector@crrobs.org
Laura likes to view life as one big great adventure. After graduating from university, Laura moved to Pennsylvania to lead wilderness therapy courses for at-risk youth. After a year and half in Pennsylvania, Laura was ready for an international adventure and moved to the Dominican Republic. She spent the next five years leading trips all over the country and directing an adventure program. Learning to speak Spanish and drive on crazy Dominican roads were two of Laura’s more challenging accomplishments while living in the DR.
Some of Laura’s favorite personal adventures are rock climbing, rappelling, canyoneering, caving, backpacking, snorkeling, mountain biking, horseback riding, white water kayaking, soccer, football, running marathons, and adventure races. She is working on adding a few more activities to that list (like surfing and SCUBA diving) while living in Costa Rica. Laura is excited to bring together three of her passions: people, the outdoors, and the international community.
